Healthcare assistant fights back against EDI segregation in NHS
Carol Richardson is a healthcare assistant in the coronary care unit at York District Hospital. Last year, she saw an advert for a new leadership course for black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) staff. Although other leadership courses were available, there was nothing exclusively for BAME staff. The justification for the course was that BAME staff members needed a ‘safe space’ away from non-BAME staff. She was appalled that she could be excluded from this course simply on the basis of her skin colour – being a white, British national.
Carol has been supported by Don’t Divide Us and is now taking York and Scarborough NHS Trust to an employment tribunal. In this segment from Free Speech Nation on GB News, Carol explains to host Josh Howie what her case is about.
