George Owers

George Owers was educated at Cambridge where he completed his undergraduate degree in 2010 and PhD in 2015. He was elected as a City Councillor in 2010 aged 21, the youngest person to be ever elected to Cambridge City Council. He was a Labour councillor until 2016 and was Executive Councillor for Finance and Resources 2014-16. He then became an editor at Polity Press, where he focussed on politics and economics, publishing figures such as Paul Embery, Nick Timothy, Jon Cruddas, Steve Keen and Adrian Vermeule. In March 2022, he became editorial director of Forum Press, a new publishing imprint that aims to promote free debate and challenge political and cultural groupthink.
